Nic and I live near the Cedarvale Ravine in Toronto, which was one of the big draws of the area. From tip to tip it’s about a half hour walk, and for most of the time you can’t tell that you are in a city. When we went for this walk yesterday morning, I told Nic that it was definitely good for my mental health.

We’ve started going on walks every day, which is definitely my favourite part of the day since we get to catch up on lots of stuff in our lives and focus only on each other. I also need doses of nature to keep myself happy living in Toronto.

This red-winged blackbird posed for me for about five minutes! I wish I had a telephoto lens so I could get even better nature photography!

I love swinging, and had a blast on this. It’s the simple things!

All the blossoms were a little tired after the 27* weather, but they’ve bounced back in my bud vases at home.

A Camp Wedding

On the Saturday of the May Long Weekend, my friends Sarah and Cody got married at the camp we worked at. Sarah and I spent 5 years on staff together. I hadn’t been back since my “graduation” ceremony 3 years ago, so this was a little weird to be back there. The wedding was a lot of fun and I got to hang out both with my friends from Silver Lake, and people from my university residence. A Wedding at Camp - JanessaMann.Com

For four of the five years on staff I was a lifeguard. My final summer on staff I was also the Waterfront Director, which meant I was in charge of the swimming pond, activities 0n the lake, and all the first aid stuff. It was a really cool but challenging job. I definitely miss the hot days guarding from in the pond because we wanted relief from sitting up on the chairs!

That rack of canoes is emotional for me- it’s where I slipped my disc in my lumbar spine. I spent some time sitting on the dock in prayer, thanking God for how far I’ve come since that day 5 summers ago.

They had set the dining room up with three long tables. One of the women who used to be on staff was the caterer, and it was delicious. They also had tons of beautiful flowers.

After the ceremony and dinner there was dancing until midnight, and then we hung out on the dock. It was a great day!

Matcha green tea and rose macarons at Nadege

My friend Alina was in town Thursday to write an exam, and our schedules happened to line up for coffee! I hadn’t seen her since the fall, so it was really great to catch up with her again, since she was such a great friend in undergrad.

We decided to go to Nadege on Queen st West, by Trinity Bellwoods park. I’d seen quite a few people on Instagram post their French macarons, and I haven’t had one in ages, so this was the perfect excuse!  My macarons (green tea matcha and rose) were delicious. Couldn’t have made it better (but I am looking forward to baking more of them with Kelsey next year!)

Sunny Days are Coming!

I absolutely love lying on this couch and staring into the light

On Wednesday morning I had a wonderful time reading on my pink grandma couch (inherited from Nic’s friend’s grandma). I love sitting in this spot to absorb some sun.

Planning, reading, and coveting Beyonce’s Ivy Park line

I’m definitely going to have to do a post on my current coffee table styling, but this is what my relaxed mornings usually look like: planning out my week, reading from my KOBO, and thumbing through magazines.

I was meeting up with Nic’s aunt for lunch, and on the way back I saw lots of tulips that have now opened!

I love this garage, the colours are always so fun to see on my walks, and I can’t wait to take more outfit pictures with it this summer!

Rainy Sunday Walk

DSC_5795_20160501_142502

This past Sunday I had a terrible migraine. Since sleeping and Advil wasn’t helping, we decided to go for a walk in the rain. It ended up being exaclty what I needed, and we checked out Creeds Coffee Bar along the way.

For May I am taking part in #mayibeginyoga2016, hosted by @kinoyoga and @beachyogagirl, for a chance to win gift cards to their yoga apparel companies!

I accidentally took the picture of our drinks on the wrong setting, so it’s just black. Really? C’mon, camera, how can you not automatically say “I know that’s the wrong setting, let me fix that for you.” Oh, that’s Auto. Oops.

Anyway, my chai latte was delicious, and Nic liked his cappucino.

Saturday Afternoon

This past Saturday afternoon after my shift at the gym, Nic and I took the streetcar out to High Park to meet our friends Dayna and Christian. It was a beautiful day, but definitely colder than it looked. We sat on their blanket for a while, and if you were in the right spot, the sun was bright enough you were almost warm.

The trees are starting to bud, which is wonderful!

After separating, Nic and I went to the Annex, where we had drinks and the most amazing nachos at Hey Lucy. Again, in direct sunlight on the patio you sort of felt warm.

Oops.

Easter Weekend in Ottawa

Easter Weekend in Ottawa - TheCraftyMann.Blogspot.Ca

For Easter this year we got to go back to Ottawa. Because of the freezing rain Thursday night, our friend drove us in on Friday morning. We arrived too late to go to the Good Friday service, so we went to a GoodLife near my parents’ to deadlift. (Yeah, not going back to that club, it’s overrun with bros who wear cutoff Popeye’s shirts and improper form.)

We had a relaxing day with my parents talking, colouring, crosswording, reading, and “watching” March Madness (I went on Pinterest and probably read more).

Saturday morningwe got to go see Kelsey (and her dogs!) then went to get coffee.

Where would we go for coffee except Suzy Q’s for doughnuts! I had the carrot cake doughnut, the one in the middle. It was phenomenal.

It was so great to catch up with Kelsey and show her both our wedding album (she was my maid of honour, and we haven’t seen her since I made the album) and the 2015 album.

Saturday afternoon Dad went for a bike ride, so Mom, Nic and I went to the Greenbelt for a nice walk. The sun was so bright, so the snow was slowly melting.

We drove to Nic’s parents for dinner, and then went to Hogsback Falls with them for a nice walk. The sunset was beautiful.

This is Flopsy. One of the youth brought his adorable bunny to church, and Mom and I were so happy to hold a bunny again.

Happy Easter from us! We had Easter lunch at Nic’s parents’, and my parents came over. It’s so convenient having our parents live in the same city, and be friends! #InLawGoals

Sunday after my parents left, we went for a walk along the Ottawa river with Nic’s parents. It was a BEAUTIFUL day. SO bright.
